December was packed and we stayed busy! I flew twice—once to Madison WI, once to Peoria, IL—stuffed myself with amazing food, made amazing food, and crammed lots of art into my eyeballs, as well as mustard into my belly (sampling to my heart’s content at the National Mustard Museum).
I also got to see my hockey team (lose) when they were in town. Boy does it suck to be an away fan, especially amongst Sharks fans. They’re really unnecessarily mean. And I have a quick temper so I really have to be cool in the moment and I hate it.
Xmas in Illinois was great! We made some amazing memories and it meant the world to me to cook a Ukrainian feast for my family! They were so complimentary about it that I want to bring more Ukrainian dishes to my everyday table and really honor that side of my heritage.
BP and I quietly rang in the New Year—I had to wake him for the champagne toast—but I’m confident this year will be one of adventure!
