The AHL All Star Classic 2024

This year, as an AHL Hockey Enthusiast, I was super fortunate that the AHL All Star Classic was happening my relative backyard! San Jose is now my closest destination for live hockey and I usually only go out there if the Flames or Wranglers are playing. I’m nothing if not loyal to my teams.

If you’re not into hockey, here’s the brief history of the AHL Classic:

The All-Star Classic has been a celebrated part of the AHL season for much of the league’s existence, with the first event being held in 1942 to raise funds for Canadian and American efforts during World War II.

The AHL All-Star experience as we know it today took off in 1995, and is now a multi-day event showcasing the league’s stars and celebrating its past, present, and future. Since 1995, more than 94 percent of All-Star Classic participants have gone on to compete in the National Hockey League, including current Flame Jacob Markstrom, as well as Rookie and house favorite around here, Dustin Wolf!

We went to both days and had an absolute blast! I got one of my pucks signed by Matt Coronato and my trading card signed by Wolfie! His family and girl were super nice in making sure I got my stuff signed (he’s so popular) and they took photos of our encounter and airdropped them to me. Hockey Family are some of the best people ever. Oh, and the West swept the competition during the game day portion, because we’re the best, obviously.

Here’s some of what it looked like:

Next year’s is in SoCal and I wanna go to that as well. Roadtrip! Let’s go!
