The Crocker Art Museum & Sacramento 2023

I wish everyone got to feel the way I feel after an afternoon in an art museum. Alive, in love, inspired—all rolled into one.

The Crocker Art Museum is my second favorite place in all of Sacramento. It would be the first, but they don’t serve crispy Peking duck and banana cream pie. Frank Fat’s does though! But don’t get your hopes up if you’re trying to run over there for the duck—they only do it for special occasions, we were told, but since my presence is a special occasion, they brought out the duck.

(More than likely it was because the server realized the guys and I were ready to run up a sizeable bill and therefore leave a sizeable tip, but let me live in my delusion, will you?)

We also hit up Old Town (the best snakebites and half-and-halfs are in a pub down that way) and The Jungle Bird which was just okay—dark as hell and cool inside and the reception was kinda frosty. ‘The Lovely Contiga’ is a triumph of an origial cocktail though, so even just for that, I’d return, as long as I could sit at the bar or at least the front section of the restaurant.

Stay beautiful, Sacramento. See you again soon.
