Last Friday, in the spirit of the season, I drug BP to Lodi to see “Paranormal Cirque II.” Billed as “a crazy yet fun fusion between Circus, theater, and cabaret,” Paranormal Cirque does in fact live up to its name. We had a good time! My favorite was the couple at the bottom of the gallery—their bodies are beautiful and their routines were stunning and sexy. They did a lot of body-weight acrobatics. Just effortless. There was also this wicked cool wheel routine at the end that had my heart in my throat several times.
My only complaints were minor ones: it was really chilly in the tent—I run hot and was worried I might overheat but I was actually cold for a lot of the show. The seats weren’t comfortable and my ass went numb right before intermission. I also wish they had more branded merchandise. I love a good poster or magnet or coozie—I did not need weird light-up horns or a light-up steampunk top hat, nor did I want a photo holding (somewhat inexplicably) a motorized Chucky doll.
I think this is also a situation where crowd participation really makes or breaks a show, so if you’re gonna go, don’t be shy. Don’t be afraid to get a little rowdy! Have fun!
Happy Halloween!
